FORD Spain’ s new production plant in Almussafes (Valencia) needed a pavement capable of withstanding the weight of innovation: heavy forklift traffic, heavy trucks, exposure to oils and thermal changes typical of a 24/7 facility. The oval brand’s engineering department found the answer in a combination of solutions from Pavicret:
Refordur glass fibers as structural reinforcement of the concrete.
PaviCret Industrial Hydrated Layer to create a high strength monolithic wearing course.
PaviSol as a final curing and sealing lacquer.

Refordur glass fibers: the smart reinforcement
Traditional mesh? FORD discarded it in favor of Refordur glass fibers, which are homogeneously dispersed throughout the concrete mass and act as three-dimensional micro-armor:
- Increased toughness and tensile strength.
- Shrinkage control and reduction of microcracks.
- Savings in installation timewithout handling meshes, the concreting of more than 60,000 m² of slabs was speeded up.
The result: a stable base without weak points on which to apply the PaviCret wearing course.
PaviCret Industrial Hydrated Layer: the wearing course that doesn’t wear away
When applied “fresh on fresh”, PaviCret Industrial Hydrated Layer forms a monolithic wearing course that
- Raises abrasion and impact resistance well above 30 MPa.
- Creates a dust-proof and seamless flooring, ideal for robots and automatic guidance systems.
- Improves flatness and facilitates subsequent polishing if an industrial gloss finish is required.
A textured anti-slip finish was chosen for the exterior roadways, while a fine polish was chosen for the assembly lines to reduce the friction of the polyurethane wheels.
PaviSol Curex: sealing and long-lasting protection
To close the system, FORD relied on PaviSol Curex, an acrylic emulsion-based styrenated curing lacquer that:
- Retains the necessary moisture necessary during the initial curing of the concrete, avoiding cracks due to rapid drying.
- It generates a protective film that waterproofs and facilitates the cleaning of oils and rubber.
- It offers a satin finish that enhances the chromatic uniformity of the pavement.
In addition, its low VOC was key to meeting stringent automotive environmental standards.
