Deactivated concrete

Keep the paving stone visible

The deactivated concrete is designed and applied with a special system that allows to leave visible the stone it contains.

The pavement of the most iconic places

Present in emblematic spaces such as the OGR in Turin (Italy) and in the charming sidewalks of the villages of Mallorca, this solution adapts to both iconic environments and homes with sophisticated designs.

Do you want to know more about our deactivated pavement?

Deactivated concrete – also called exposed or “washed” aggregate – combines the robustness of a concrete slab with the natural beauty of surface-grown stones. Thanks to our Cromicret + DesactivaCret system, the pavement acquires a Class 3 anti-slip texture and offers an almost infinite range of shades, grain sizes and joint patterns.
  • Non-slip as standard: The controlled roughness achieves slipperiness coefficients above 45 Rd, ideal for swimming pools, ramps and pedestrian walkways.

  • Customizable aesthetics: Choose local aggregates – pebbles, granite, crushed marble – or pigment the matrix with Cromicret for unique combinations that blend in with any environment.

  • Extreme durability: Exceeds 25 years of useful life thanks to its thickness (≥10 cm) and intrinsic protection against wear and UV rays.

  • Minimal maintenance: Pressurized water and, every 3-4 years, seal with acrylic resin to restore gloss and water repellency is sufficient.

  • Fast and continuous work: In a single day, the concrete is poured, DesactivaCret is sprayed, washed and the joint is cut. Less labor than laying pavers or tiles.

Product Key advantage Recommended Uses
Cromicret Colored mortar that surrounds the aggregate and enhances the contrast; resistance ≥ 30 MPa. Urban sidewalks, squares, private terraces.
DesactivaCret Aqueous phase deactivator that retards ≤ 3 mm of concrete skin to expose the aggregate without damaging it. Projects where homogeneous and safe exposed aggregate is required.
Refordur Fiberglass Controls shrinkage and reduces cracks, replacing light mesh. Large slabs (parking, industrial accesses).
PaviLat Text Bonding bridge on old concrete or surfaces with little porosity before redoing the pavement. On surfaces with little porosity

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions on Deactivated Concrete

How to apply deactivated concrete

The slab is poured, leveled and, when the water film disappears, DesactivaCret is sprayed. After 6-12 h, the surface layer is removed with pressurized water, leaving the aggregate visible, and finally sealed.

It can be carefully walked on at 24 h; light traffic is viable at 72 h and full strength is reached at 28 days.

Including labor and initial sealing, it ranges from 25 € to 40 €/m² depending on the aggregate and colors chosen.

Only occasional washing and reapply sealer every 3-4 years to revive color and improve stain resistance.

Yes, its Class 3 certified rough texture guarantees safety even on wet surfaces.

Of course; you can delimit areas with PVC strips or cut joints and pour different mixtures to create geometric designs.

We recommend at least 10 cm for pedestrian use and 15 cm if it will support vehicular traffic.

Yes, using PaviLat Text as a bonding bridge and pouring a new layer of 5-8 cm with Refordur fibers.
